Sculpt nation neuroctane review image

Are you looking for a way to stay mentally ahead of the masses? Then you might have heard of nootropic supplements, which is a fancy way of saying “supplements that boost brain function.”

But now, Sculpt Nation has created its spin on nootropics called “Neuroctane.”

So the obvious question is – can Neuroctane help us to build a bulletproof brain and take our performance to the next level? Let’s find out.

About The Creators – Sculpt Nation

After hearing the cries about horrible supplements from his loyal V Shred fans, Vince Sant decided to step in and help them sculpt their dream bodies with his supplement company called Sculpt Nation.

They take their “sculpt perfect bodies” mantra very seriously, and they prove it by offering a long list of supplements which include:

  • Sculpt Nation Pre-Workout and Post-Workout
  • Sculpt Nation Protein Powder
  • Sculpt Nation Creatine
  • Sculpt Nation HGH Boost
  • Sculpt Nation Test Boost Max
  • Sculpt Nation Turmeric Black
  • Sculpt Nation Burn Evolved
  • …and much more

They provide supplements – not just for the body – but for the mind, too. That’s where we introduce “Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane.”

So let’s take a closer look at this nootropic to see if it’s worth your money.

A Closer Look at Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane

At $49 a bottle, Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane is among the newest nootropics on the block, and here’s what it’s promising us (according to the SN website):

  • Provides fast and sustained non-stimulant improvement in your mood and alertness (zero jitters)
  • Protect your brain from dangerous free radicals
  • Sharpen your cognitive function
  • Naturally, raise your dopamine & serotonin levels for superior wellbeing and mental acuity
  • Boost your information retention and improve your memory
  • Fight occasional anxiety and support mood
  • Rapidly relieve mental stress

These promises sound nice but not extraordinary, which is a good sign. But we can’t be sure of anything until we understand how Neurocatane works to achieve these promises.

How Does It Work?

The main function of Neuroctane is to improve brain function and performance with the combination of several nootropic ingredients. To better understand how Neuroctane works, we first need to understand nootropics as a whole.

What Is a Nootropic?

You can think of nootropics as cognitive enhancers, which are substances that people use in an attempt to:

  • Increase mental awareness
  • Improve memory
  • Boost concentration, energy levels, and feelings of wakefulness

Various types of nootropics exist (including natural and synthetic types), and they all employ different mechanisms to achieve nootropic effects.

Is Neuroctane an Effective Nootropic?

Neuroctane contains six all-natural ingredients that have been shown to enhance cognitive function and serve as nootropics. The ingredients include:

  • Alpinia galanga root extract (EnXtra™)
  • Bacopa whole plant extract (Synaps™)
  • L-theanine
  • Caffeine
  • Noopept (as N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester)
  • Black pepper fruit extract

Yet, to determine the effectiveness of this supplement, we need to investigate each ingredient in Neuroctane.

Ingredients In Neuroctane

Every Neuroctane capsule contains the following:

Alpinia Galanga Root Extract (EnXtra™)

Alpinia galanga root has a few reported benefits, like being rich in antioxidants and boosting male fertility.

The antioxidants (especially polyphenols) may help with improving memory and protect against mental decline. But these effects have yet to be directly linked to Alpinia galanga.

On the other hand, EnXtra™ (made of Alpinia galanga root extract) is a proprietary blend owned by Enovate Biolife. Now, there’s very little research conducted on it.

However, one study concluded that participants who consumed EnXtra™ for 12 weeks experienced improved alertness and calmness, plus reduced daytime sleepiness compared to the placebo.

But the researchers in this study are also affiliated with the makers of EnXtra™ (Enovate Biolife). Of course, this throws the integrity of this study into question.

Bacopa Whole Plant Extract (Synaps™)

Here’s what Bacopa monnieri may help you with:

May Boost Brain Function

A 12-week study on adult humans suggested that participants who took 300 mg of Bacopa Monnieri daily had an improved speed of visual information processing, memory, and learning rate.

Additionally, there’s another 12-week study on adults aged 60-and-up who took 300-600mg of Bacopa monnieri extract daily. The study reported an improvement in attention, memory, and ability to process information.

It’s Linked to ADHD Symptom Relief

One study conducted on 31 children between 6-12 years of age suggests that consuming 225 mg of Bacopa monnieri extract every day for six months resulted in a significant reduction of ADHD symptoms, like:

  • Poor self-control
  • Impulsivity
  • Restlessness
  • Inattention

May Prevent Anxiety and Stress

Bacopa monnieri is considered an adaptogenic herb. That means it can increase the body’s stress resistance.

Some researchers have reported that Bacopa monnieri may help to elevate mood and reduce cortisol levels.

Two studies [2001, 2008] suggest that Bacopa monnieri supplementation can significantly decrease anxiety and depression scores in adults.

However, another study didn’t report any change in anxiety and stress after supplementing with Bacopa monnieri.

L-Theanine

Some research suggests that l-theanine can help with reducing anxiety and stress.

In a review of five trials, four studies suggested that l-theanine was responsible for reducing anxiety and stress in participants experiencing stress.

A separate group of researchers studied the combined effect of l-theanine and caffeine. They reported an improvement in alertness and cognitive function due to their combination.

Keep in mind that the effective dosage of l-theanine in these trials is around 200-400 mg.

Caffeine

Caffeine is the one nootropic ingredient in this supplement that has been researched extensively and observed to improve mood, brain function, and focus.

A research review reports that 37.5-450 mg of caffeine was effective at improving alertness, reaction time, and short-term recall.

One other study links the consumption of 200-300 mg of caffeine with a reduced risk of suicide.

Also, another review of various studies concludes that drinking 400/ml of coffee has protective effects that may reduce depression.

Some other studies have linked coffee consumption with having a lower risk of brain diseases, like Parkison’s and Alzheimer’s. [2007, 2014, 2015,].

An effective dosage of caffeine ranges between 50-400 mg daily.

Noopept (As N-Phenylacetyl-L-Prolylglycine Ethyl Ester)

Noopept is a brand name for N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester, which is supposedly a nootropic with neuroprotective abilities similar to piracetam.

Various studies on rats performed by mostly the same researchers [2002, 2007, 2008] suggest that Noopept can increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). This affects how fast memories are formed and retrieved in the brain.

One study on humans associated the consumption of 20 mg of noopept daily with improvements in cognitive function of stroke patients.

However, the available research is performed on animals. Not to mention, there’s almost no human research to conclude the efficacy of Noopept. Also, there isn’t much research, either.

Black Pepper Fruit Expert (Bioperine)

Multiple animal studies suggest that Bioperine may be able to boost brain function. One study shows that piperine can protect the brain health of mice chemically induced with Parkinson’s disease.

Another rat study suggests that piperine might reduce cognitive impairment related to Alzheimer’s disease.

Additionally, one study on rodents links piperine with improved memory and protection from damage to the brain myelin sheath.

But, again, note that all these experiments were performed on animals, not humans.

Other Ingredients

The other ingredients are rice powder, gelatin, silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate.

How To Take SN’s Neuroctane

How to take sn’s neuroctane image

The instructions for Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane say we should take two capsules (one serving) every day alongside a meal.

Also, according to Sculpt Nation, you shouldn’t take Neuroctane if you’re:

  • Pregnant or currently nursing
  • A child or below 18

Also, you should speak with your physician if you’re using other medications and plan to add this supplement to your routine.

Side Effects of Neuroctane from Sculpt Nation

The ingredients in Neuroctane are generally safe for consumption in the added doses. But here’s what we’ve gathered so far in terms of side effects:

  • Bacopa monnieri may cause mild digestive issues, including stomach cramps, diarrhea, and nausea.
  • According to one study on mice, Alpinia galanga (in high doses) could lead to decreased energy levels, loss of appetite, diarrhea, excessive urination, coma, and death.

Proprietary blends make it even harder to tell the side effects because we don’t know how much of a specific ingredient is added to each capsule.

Where Can You Buy Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane?

(You’re going to have to — we can’t seem to find any other place where this product is sold!)

4 Pros of Neuroctane

Shows Some Promise

There’s at least some research to back the nootropic effects of the six ingredients in Neuroctane. There’s an adequate amount of research to back l-theanine and especially caffeine. Meanwhile, research on the other ingredients looks promising.

Not Underdosed

We can’t tell how efficient Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane will be, but at the very least, the ingredients aren’t underdosed based on the research studies.

No Carbs

According to Sculpt Nation, Neuroctane is completely carb-free and suitable for a low-carb diet.

Gluten-Free

This supplement is also gluten-free. Gluten is typically a no-go area if you have celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

4 Cons of Neuroctane

Weak Research

Besides l-theanine and caffeine, the remaining ingredients either don’t have much research to back them or involve research conducted on animals.

Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane looks promising. But more human research will be needed to determine the precise effect of this nootropic supplement.

4 of 6 Ingredients Are Proprietary Blends

Besides the caffeine and l-theanine, the remaining ingredients are proprietary blends. Proprietary blends come with a few possible problems.

For example, supplement companies often use tiny amounts of effective (but more expensive) ingredients while they add the cheapest ones in the highest volumes. All to save costs.

Also, supplement companies don’t have to list the amount used for specific ingredients in a proprietary blend, making it harder to detect which compound is causing a bad reaction.

Over-Exaggerated With Misleading Claims

There’s no holding Sculpt Nation’s claims back when it’s time to sell a product.

Here’s a look at how Sculpt Nation advertises this one:

  • According to Sculpt Nation, we should “Think of NEUROCTANE like a real-life Limitless Pill. Laser-like focus. Super productivity. Less brain fog. An iron-trap memory. Boundless mental and physical energy.”
  • “Isn’t It Time You Gave Yourself the Gift (Neuroctane) of the Limitless Mental Abilities Needed to Excel at Work, School, and in ALL Areas of Your Life?”
  • “NEUROCTANE’s 5-Super Powered Nootropics strengthen your brain’s neural pathways, literally helping you build a bulletproof brain.”
  • “Good news… there’s now an all-natural way (Neuroctane) to build the hyper-productive, lighting-fast functioning brain you need to rise above the masses and finally achieve all of your biggest goals.”

Someone unsuspecting or naive can easily get hooked on a product with so many eye-catching
promises.

No Links to Research

Sculpt Nation seems to have a different view of what research-backed means. Their sales page always makes scientific claims and includes numbers that are citations or links like every other supplement company.

But Sculpt Nation intentionally leaves these links out of their sales page.

Doesn’t Sculpt Nation think the links to research studies are important to potential buyers?

What Other Reviews Are Saying

Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane is one of the brand’s lesser-known supplements, and we haven’t seen any independent reviews of the product. It’s as if no one has reviewed Neuroctane before.

Also, it certainly doesn’t help that Neuroctane is sold exclusively on Sculpt Nation’s website.

Is Sculpt Nation’s Neuroctane Worth it?

Is sculpt nation’s neuroctane worth it image

I don’t say this much about Sculpt Nation, but Neuroctane is one of the supplements I can actually see myself trying. Most ingredients have been shown to exhibit nootropic effects, and they were added in their effective clinical dosages.

But my biggest problem with Neuroctane is the long list of exaggerated claims about the product. Also, we can’t justify the price until we know the effectiveness of Neuroctane.

Besides these issues, this supplement seems like a promising nootropic.
